Schools have been driven by standardized tests as a measure of individual worth and adequate school performance. The testing craze pushed aside the needs of students to think for themselves, develop their personal interests, and take charge of their learning.
Now, a shift in purpose for schools is underway with many different ideas of ways to transform schools to meet the diverse needs of youth. This site seeks to strengthen student voices in conversations about redesigning schools, focusing particularly on high school. Since authority for the operation of schools rests with local school boards, there is great potential for sharing innovative practices across the U.S. We invite you to be a change maker!
